OurStory

Aquaria is the culmination of a lifelong passion for aquatic life shared by two friends. We began with guppies in Horlicks bottles, and now we design and maintain aquariums and terrariums that will take your breath away. We believe that a carefully crafted aquarium or terrarium can be a stunning and relaxing focal point of any room it’s in. Home or office, hotel or hospital - an underwater aquascape can add a splash of natural colour and vibrancy to any space. In 2014, we started Aquaria and made it our mission to share over 80 years of combined fishkeeping knowledge and expertise with individuals and institutions who are interested in exploring the wonders of the underwater world.

Ashwin

From a very young age, Ashwin was fascinated by both underwater life and gardening-and he found the perfect intersection of both his passions with planted aquariums. He made this passion his primary focus and spends his days talking fish and aquariums. His dream is one day to visit South America and see his favourite fish in their natural habitats.

Prem

Prem is often described as ‘soft-spoken’- but his aquascapes speak volumes about his passion for the craft and his attention to detail. The mastermind behind Aquaria’s stunning scapes, he is happiest when he is aquascaping. He has also successfully kept and raised some of the rarest and most exotic fish in the hobby.

Ruben

With over 20 years’ experience working on large commercial ornamental fish farms, our store manager loves helping customers in the store and helps maintain our client’s tanks to perfection. Ruben’s passion is breeding fish and he has bred some of our more exotic fish in the store.

We transform spaces by designing and building custom aquariums and ponds for homes, offices, hotels, pubs, restaurants, hospitals, and more.

maintenance

An aquarium may look good the day it’s installed, but how’s it going to look three months later? We provide a complete caretaking service, with comprehensive and regular maintenance.

retail

High-quality aquarium fishes, plants, and supplies - including tanks, filters, pumps, planted substrates, driftwood, rocks, fertilizers, medicine and much more are available for purchase at our Adyar store.
